Lions to Lines: “Spectrum” Exchange Exhibition with Kyung Hee University
The NTNU Department of Fine Arts joined forces with the Kyung Hee University College of Fine Arts in South Korea to host an international art exchange exhibition, showcasing a diverse array of around 80 artworks from students of both institutions. This collaborative event, held at NTNU's Te-Chun Gallery from February 21 for five days, showcased an impressive array of around 80 artworks by students from both universities, marking a significant milestone in the cultural exchange between Taiwan and Korea.
Themed 'Spectrum,' the exhibition showcased a broad range of styles and mediums, including ink, Korean painting, sculpture, calligraphy, seal engraving, sketching, oil, watercolor, acrylic, photography, and mixed media. It aimed to highlight the diversity of artistic expression, mirroring the two cultural landscapes.
Visiting the exhibition last week, a delegation of 33 students from Kyung Hee University, led by Dean Jong-gab Park and Department Chair Hwan-Wook Jung, met with counterparts at the NTNU Department of Fine Arts, facilitating a direct and enriching exchange of ideas and techniques among the emerging artists.
Noting the shared lion mascot of both universities, NTNU's President, Cheng-Chih Wu drew parallels to K-POP's global influence, and expressed his aspiration for the exchange to further the international reach of NTNU's art programs. He emphasized the importance of continuing engagement and dialogue between the two institutions.
Yi-Hua Sun, Dean of NTNU's Department of Fine Arts, said the participating works had been meticulously curated to showcase exceptional talent. Kyung Hee University selected works by students from its Painting, Korean Painting, and Sculpture departments, while NTNU featured outstanding works from students across all academic levels. This event not only fostered a creative exchange but also provided a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents on an international stage, broadening students' global artistic perspectives.
