NTNU Engages Indian Students in Talent Drive to Boost Taiwan’s Tech Sector
In early December, NTNU joined the Taiwan University System and several leading technology companies for the "2024 India Talent Recruitment Tour," organized by the National Development Council. The initiative aimed to attract AI talent and promote academic and industry exchanges between Taiwan and India. The tour included three job fairs and visits to four prestigious science and engineering universities, where Indian students expressed strong interest in studying at NTNU.
The delegation visited Bangalore from December 2 to 8, with participants from the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Delta Electronics, Realtek, Logitech, NVIDIA, the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), NTNU, National Taiwan University (NTU), and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech). This was NTNU’s first recruitment trip to India since the pandemic. The collaboration between academia, government, and industry strengthened ties with key players in the technology sector and produced meaningful results.
On the first day, the delegation visited Delta Electronics’ India headquarters and R&D center in Bangalore’s Bommasandra Industrial Zone, along with MediaTek’s India R&D base and Lien Hwa’s software R&D center. Subsequent visits included the RV-SKILLS Emerging Technologies Center and NASSCOM, India’s leading software industry association. These visits provided insights into India’s tech ecosystem and workforce development.
From December 4 to 6, the delegation held recruitment fairs at R. V. College of Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, and Presidency University. The events drew more than 2,000 students. NTNU faculty presented graduate programs, English-taught courses, and scholarship opportunities, offering a comprehensive overview of Taiwan’s higher education system.
The fair at Presidency University attracted additional students from nearby institutions, including the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Chennai Institute of Technology. More than 1,000 science and engineering students attended, highlighting growing interest in studying and pursuing careers in Taiwan.
Professor Ming-Kang Brad Tsai from NTNU’s Department of Chemistry noted the enthusiasm among Indian students, emphasizing their interest in studying in Taiwan to contribute to its technology sector or apply their skills back in India. Professor Chan-Shan Yang from the Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering encouraged students to consider NTNU as a destination for advanced studies and career development.
The recruitment tour strengthened NTNU’s engagement with Indian institutions and industries, reinforcing academic ties and opening new opportunities for collaboration. NTNU plans to continue participating in international education fairs and recruitment initiatives to attract talented students and expand connections between Taiwan’s technology sector and global talent pools.
