NTNU Brings AI Trends to Campus with NVIDIA COMPUTEX 2025 Watch Party

Demonstrating its commitment to AI education and interdisciplinary engagement, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) hosted a campus “Watch Party” on May 19, 2025, for NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote address at COMPUTEX 2025. The live-streamed event brought together over 190 students and faculty from the College of Science and the College of Technology and Engineering to explore developments in artificial intelligence and its future impact.

Jointly organized by NTNU’s College of Technology and Engineering and the International College of Interdisciplinary Industry-Academia Innovation, the event went beyond passive viewing. It featured professional commentary and insights from key speakers, including Jasmine Ying-Jie Tai, General Manager of Lenovo Taiwan’s Home Products Division; Dr. Cheng-Hung Lin, NTNU’s Associate Vice President for Research and Development and Deputy Director of the Graduate Institute of Artificial Intelligence; and Dr. Hsiao-Yue Tsao, Executive Director of the NTNU Art Museum Provisional Office.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Lin emphasized NVIDIA’s influence in advancing AI and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. He noted NTNU’s productive partnership with NVIDIA in areas such as AI education and creative applications, and expressed optimism about deepening these collaborations to support Taiwan’s broader AI ecosystem.

NTNU’s engagement with NVIDIA has earned national recognition. During a keynote at National Taiwan University in 2024, Jensen Huang included NTNU on a map of 17 Taiwanese universities contributing to the country’s AI supply chain. This acknowledgment underscores the university’s active role in research and application.

In addition to the keynote viewing, the event featured interactive booths by AI-related companies, allowing students to explore emerging technologies firsthand. A grand prize raffle of NVIDIA graphics cards, along with a Lenovo laptop donated by Jasmine Tai, sparked lively participation.

The Watch Party was designed especially for students in science and engineering, helping them connect academic knowledge with industry developments. It served as a bridge between education and real-world application, encouraging students to stay engaged with evolving technological trends.

NTNU’s AI efforts also extend into the arts. Since 2022, Distinguished Professor Hsin-Chien Huang has led interdisciplinary collaborations with NVIDIA, including a creative competition on AI-generated content co-hosted with GIGABYTE and other partners during the NTNU Art Festival in March 2025.

The College of Interdisciplinary Industry-Academia Innovation continues to champion cross-sector integration, with a strong focus on fields like AI and green technology. Through hands-on programs, collaborative projects, and practice-driven curricula, the college aims to prepare students to translate academic expertise into practical impact across industries.
