2025 Summer Session to Offer Expanded Courses and Revised Policies

The 2025 Summer Session at NTNU will expand to nearly double the number of available courses to approximately 120. The offering includes a greater number of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) courses, covering areas such as engineering, social sciences, natural sciences, and the humanities.

The summer session is part of a continued trial program aimed at providing flexible academic options during the summer months. According to NTNU’s Office of Academic Affairs, the university will continue its policy of waiving summer credit fees for students enrolled in day-division undergraduate and graduate programs. The waiver does not apply to graduate students taking Teacher Education Program (TEP) courses or to undergraduates who have extended their studies beyond the standard graduation timeline.

“Through these summer session policies, we aim to give students greater flexibility in planning their coursework, whether they are making up credits, advancing their studies, or exploring new subjects,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs Mei-Hui Liu.

NTNU has also adjusted the minimum number of students required for a course to be held. For general courses at the undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral level, the minimum is now 7 students. For core curriculum, general education, and TEP courses, the minimum has been set at 10 students. These changes are intended to increase the feasibility of offering more courses during the summer period.

The 2025 Summer Session will be divided into three periods:

  • Session 1: June 23 – July 20, 2025
  • Session 2: July 21 – August 17, 2025
  • Full Session: June 23 – August 17, 2025

Students can register for courses during the following timeframes:

  • Preliminary Course Selection: May 22 – May 26, 2025
  • First Add/Drop Period: May 29 – June 2, 2025
  • Second Add/Drop Period (Session 2 only): June 27 – July 1, 2025

Students may view detailed course information and registration procedures through the Summer Session Course Portal at https://www.aa.ntnu.edu.tw/en/selectives/Dayschool/Summer_training

EMI courses are available to full-time NTNU students. Visiting or international students who are not enrolled at NTNU may also be eligible to participate through application processes coordinated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Information on eligibility and registration for non-NTNU students is available at https://www.ntnu.edu.tw/oia.
