College of Technology and Engineering Partners with Indonesia’s APTIKOM to Advance Academic Exchange
A new partnership between the Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computers (APTIKOM), Indonesia, and the NTNU College of Technology and Engineering (CTE) was formalized on September 11 with the signing of a Letter of Intent for academic exchange. The agreement marks a step toward closer collaboration in higher education between the two institutions.
APTIKOM is Indonesia’s largest national organization representing higher education institutions in informatics and computer-related fields. Established in 2002, the association includes around 850 universities and 1,560 programs in disciplines such as computer science, information systems, digital business, and creative industries. In addition to promoting academic excellence and research innovation, APTIKOM actively advances international cooperation to enhance education quality and global engagement.
The signing ceremony at CTE was co-hosted by Dean Dr. Yi-Hsuan Hung and APTIKOM Secretary-General Dr. Husni Teja Sukmana (M.Sc., Ph.D.) Over 30 were in attendance, including Dr. Eva Handriyantini, APTIKOM Director of International Relations, representatives from Indonesian universities, and deans, directors, and professors from CTE’s six departments.
During the event, Dr. Eri Prasetyo Wibowo and Dr. Robby Kurniawan Harahap from Gunadarma University shared experiences in talent development and chip design innovation. Dr. Agus Buono, Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science at IPB University, introduced the Research in Agro-Maritime 4.0 project, highlighting Indonesia’s achievements in interdisciplinary research and talent development. Dean Hung also presented the college’s key strengths and initiatives, outlining potential avenues for future cooperation.
APTIKOM’s visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between Indonesian and Taiwanese universities, with a focus on faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and curriculum development. Both sides agreed to further advance cooperation in areas such as in-depth academic partnerships, exchange or degree programs for Indonesian students pursuing master’s and doctoral studies at NTNU, and guidance for laboratory establishment at Indonesian universities.
Dean Yi-Hsuan Hung said, “This Letter of Intent marks a significant milestone in our college’s engagement with Indonesian higher education institutions. It reflects our shared commitment to cultivating the next generation of talent, advancing interdisciplinary innovation and research, and continuing to expand the depth and reach of international education partnerships.”
