NTNU and Srinakharinwirot University Partnering in Education Research and Exchange
On 23 March, the College of Education at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Faculty of Social Sciences at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), Thailand. This landmark agreement launches bilateral collaboration in educational research and academic exchange between two of Asia’s leading institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both universities. The NTNU delegation, led by Vice President Stephen J. H. Yang, included VP for International Affairs Yi-De Liu, Dean of the College of Education Huei-Mei Liu, and Associate Dean Guo-Li Chiou. The SWU delegation was led by Dean Tannikarn Soonsinpai of the Faculty of Social Sciences, accompanied by Vice President for Academic Affairs Nathaporn Thaijongrak, Associate Dean for International Relations Jiraporn Ruampongpattana, and Department Chair Anchalee Srikolchan. In his opening remarks, NTNU Vice President Yang extended a warm welcome to the Thai delegation, noting that this MOU elevates the partnership to a strategic university level: “With NTNU consistently ranked among the top 30 universities globally in the field of education, we aim to integrate our strengths in social sciences with the ongoing 'AI Transformation.' This synergy will drive innovative research into human and social behavior.” Dean Hui-Mei Liu traced the origins of this partnership back to April 2024, initiated by former Dean Hsiu-Lan Shelley Tien. The relationship was further cemented when the SWU delegation visited Taiwan for the APATE International Conference hosted by NTNU. Dean Liu expressed her enthusiasm for upcoming student exchange programs and teacher training initiatives, which will enrich both campuses. SWU Dean Tannikarn Soonsinpai expressed her profound honor in partnering with NTNU, citing its prestigious reputation in teacher education and international research. She credited Department Chair Anchalee Srikolchan for facilitating this connection and looked forward to how this partnership will foster innovation within the educational systems of both Thailand and Taiwan. The two partner institutions are already planning for 10 SWU students to participate in a specialized exchange program at NTNU in late April. They are also co-organizing an academic seminar in mid-December to discuss research findings and forge professional connections. The MOU signing ceremony signals a shared commitment between NTNU and SWU to cultivate educational talent with a global perspective. This partnership not only strengthens the bond between NTNU and SWU but also reinforces the broader educational bridge between Taiwan and Thailand.A Vision for AI and Social Innovation
