"Light Up the Light" Passes on Love and Hope

<p><font face="Arial">By Chen Wei-yang<br /> Campus Reporter </font></p> <p><font face="Arial">National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) and Lung-chiuan Neighborhood tried to pass on the spirit of love and hope while the Christmas carnival activity &ldquo;Light Up the Light&rdquo; was launched at the Complex Building this evening.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;People call us a conservative school.&nbsp; Today, we make a twist here by stepping out, showing our love toward the community during the holiday season,&rdquo; said Gou Yih-shun (郭義雄), NTNU president.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">Gou made his remarks during the grand opening ceremony of the activity, which was participated by Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng (王金平), who is a political heavyweight and also a NTNU alumnus.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">NTNU Office of University Relations said that NTNU students and local residents in the neighborhood have come up with a lot of fresh ideas to decorate the community and develop Christmas atmosphere, while delicious food, Christmas-related music and scene can be experienced by walking through the Shida Rd.&nbsp; In addition, NTNU also encouraged its international students to come up with various talent shows on the campus, while loving, sharing and giving would be the spirit for the holiday season.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">Yu Shing-hua (余星華), head of the Da-an District, was very pleased by what she saw.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;This is truly something different that was achieved by NTNU and local community,&rdquo; she said.&nbsp; &ldquo;This carnival gave us something different for the holidays.&nbsp; Not cookies or candies but the spirit of love and hope.&rdquo;</font></p> <p><font face="Arial"><br /> </font>&nbsp;</p>
