National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) staff and students experienced a three-hour blackout this morning, since the nearest transformer went through a short circuit.

"Some smelled smoke. But please do not worry about it because the smoke came from our spare generators which are to be used for emergency cases like this,” said Wu Chung-hsin (吳忠信), deputy of the Office of General Affairs.

The blackout, which hit the entire main campus, took place around 11:50am, while classes remained in session in the dark.
