NTNU Staff Members and Students Echo the Activity That Combines Charity and Environmentalism

<p><font face="Arial">By Doremi Wang<br /> Campus Reporter</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) staff members and students showed their good hearts again during a charity event at the Rome Square on the campus today, while a total amount of NT$28,070 (US$905) was collected and donated to NTNU&rsquo;s emergency fund.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">The event was organized by the Extra-curriculum Activity Division and all the items on sale came from NTNU staff members&rsquo; and students&rsquo; donation.&nbsp; Shoppers would be able to find almost everything they may need for daily life, including electronic devices, books, clothes and even pens and pencils, except they were all used.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;To help the poor and keep our environment clean would be the major ideas for the event,&rdquo; said Liu Jen-tzu (劉人慈), the coordinator for the event and also a senior from the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">This event was participated and hosted by 41 students and alumni.&nbsp; Liu said that a charity event like this could help recycle used items and help the poor who are in needs.&nbsp; In addition to recycling used items, these volunteers also collected receipts from potential donors at the scene and would distribute these receipts to social groups, such as the Garden of Hope Foundation (勵馨社會福利基金會), Catholic Kuang Jen Social Welfare Foundation (光仁社會福利基金會) and Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (台灣兒童暨家庭扶助基金會), with a hope that potential rewards by the receipt lottery every two months would help these groups financially.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial"></font>&nbsp;</p>
