Nearly 1,000 high school students and teachers were impressed by National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) athletes’ indoor show at the gym on the main campus tonight.

"Cool,” said Jianguo High School student Chen Kuan-ting (陳冠廷), who has one more year left for his high school education, when he was approached for comments.

At Jianguo, Chen is a athletic talent who is qualified for potential exam-free admission to any physical education-related majors at any university or college. He said that tonight’s show has anchored his plan to aim at NTNU’s Department of Physical Education when he begins to go through the process of selecting his favorite college in another year.

The athletic show is an annual activity, presented by NTNU athletes. The end goal for the show was designed to allow these athletes present the sports they are majoring by the combination of the sports themselves and music, drama, or any other presentation of arts to make audiences understand the true beauty and the spirits of sports.

A total of nine sports were presented during the show. NTNU athletes took advantage of their own creativity to present and promote their at-home items, although they were doing it on the stage instead of the fields. Swimmers, for instance, delivered the idea and the concept of swimming with music and moves, only they were doing it under the spotlights without water.

Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) forwarded invitations to all municipal and private high schools in Taipei City and County prior to the show today. The office was expecting nearly 900 visitors but it ended up with a total amount near 1,000.

"Many students thought that they would only become teachers after they graduate from NTNU. We want to show them the other side of NTNU,” said Hung Shu-fei (洪舒斐), an OAA administration assistant.

Office of Physical Education and Sports Director Jwo Jium-chem (卓俊辰) said that the annual athletic show is a great opportunity to introduce and promote NTNU to more people, including potential students.

"It is also a concept for people to realize how important exercises will mean to us,” Jwo said.

The same show will be performed on May 23 and May 24 at the same place at the same time. Please visit http://140.122.72.11/pe97show/ for more information.
