National Taiwan Normal University’s “Good-will Ambassador Service Team” recruited another 20 students at the Administration Building this morning.

These 20 rookies, including seven freshmen, 12 sophomores and one junior, for the team came from 10 different departments.

"I began to notice this team when I first saw a big smile on one of the ambassadors a while ago and that inspired me to become one of them,” said English major Wu Yi-chun (吳依淳), the only junior among the 20 rookies.

These 20 winners were selected out of a total of 37 participants by their performances of self-introduction, pop quiz and a talent show, which was very similar to a beauty pageant. Participants tried to impress four judges, including Personnel Office Director Lin Shu-tuan (林淑端), Office of Student Affairs Dean Fang Chin-lung (方進隆), Office of Secretariat head Lin An-pang (林安邦) and Office of University Relations Director Wen Ming-chung (溫明忠), by all kinds of talent shows, such as playing violin, cracking up jokes, showing their language abilities by introducing themselves in different languages, etc.

Lin said that she had a hard time deciding the winners, while Fang said that participants’ attitude and passionate toward the job would be his major concern.

Intensive courses, which focus on English and Chinese expression and make-up training, will be arranged and established for these 20 rookies during this summer.

The “Good-will Ambassador Service Team” supports all kinds of receptions or activities on the campus. The Office of University Relations designed, recruited and trained these team members since 2006.
