Department of Physical Education Men Basketball Team Win the Title

By Bunny Chen Campus Reporter Department of Physical Education men basketball team won the title of the 2008 National Taiwan Normal University Basketball League Finals after they defeated Graduate Institute of Sports and Leisure Management by 53:41 on game three today. Prior to today’s match-up, both teams were tied during the series, of which, whoever won two games would won the title as well.  Graduate Institute of Sports and Leisure Management Director Lawrence Chang (張少熙), however, was not too upset about his students’ loss during the game and the championship. "We do not care about the result, as long as students had fun during the game,” Chang said.  “I am happy with the silver medal anyway, now that most of our students are not professional athletes while their opponents are.” Forwards Li Rong-jer (李榮哲) and You Chen-fu (游陳富) of the Department of Physical Education team were the key players of the game, as they scored the most throughout the four quarters. Point guard Chang Wen-wei (張文威) of Graduate Institute of Sports and Leisure Management team was also another star during the game as he made lots of sufficient assists which helped his teammates score.  His fluent assists were the main reason why his team would stay close to Department of Physical Education for the first half of the game. Department of Physical Education began to take a giant lead of the game when point guard Huang Cheng-chieh (黃正杰) was called from the branch to guard Chang, and the team changed its defense tactic from man-to-man defense to zone defense, starting from the second half. Lu Yi-ze (呂宜澤), center for the Department of Physical Education, said that they did not win the victory for no reasons. "My teammates and I did all we can do to win and we did it,” Lu said.  “We tried to stay as a team and that was how we won the title.”
