NTNU International Students Enjoy the Moon

<p>By Jocy Su<br /> Campus Reporter</p> <p>A total of 300 international students experienced their Moon Festival on the campus tonight.</p> <p>For the first time, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and the Mandarin Training Center (MTC) co-organized the &ldquo;2008 Welcome Party and Moon Festival Party,&rdquo; which was designed for international students and held in front of the swimming pool on the main campus from 6pm to 9pm.</p> <p>These 300 international students came from different departments of National Taiwan Normal University.&nbsp; One hundred of them are MTC students.</p> <p>To help international students know more about Moon Festival, including its background and related food, OIA and MTC designed lots of performances, shows and food at the scene.</p> <p>Graduate student Malgorzata Dudzisz from Poland said that she enjoyed the event.&nbsp; This first-year graduate student from Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language affirmed the idea for organizing the event to help foreigners know more about local culture.</p> <p>&quot;This was really an interesting and enjoyable evening to me,&rdquo; she said.</p> <p>Among all the shows, American student Steven Jones&rsquo; tea serving ceremony was highlighted.</p> <p>&quot;It was a pleasure to bring tea serving culture to people who are not familiar with it,&rdquo; Jones said.</p> <p>Meanwhile, although moon cakes and pomelos were served at the scene, moon cakes became most people&rsquo;s favorite anyway.</p> <p>While international students were having fun, Taiwanese students, however, said that they would hope to participate in activities like this in the future.</p> <p>&quot;We Taiwanese students are also part of the school so we hope we have equal opportunities to join activities like this,&rdquo; said Veasna Lee (李婉如), a junior from English Department.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
