OUR New Director Vows to Make a Change

By Vickie Lo
Assistant Executive Officer

National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) Office of University Relations (OUR) decided to make a change for more promotion for the school.

Starting from today, remaining responsibilities will be divided into Center for Campus and Community Services, Center for Careers and Alumni Services and the newly established “Center for Integrated Marketing Communications.”

"We want to introduce more of NTNU to the public, in return of potential increasing income,” said Jerry Hsia (夏學理), newly assigned director for OUR.

Hsia interpreted NTNU-related nouns in his own way. Starting with Hoping East Rd., he said that the name of the road reflects the meaning of hope and love. NTNU could stand for “naturally true naturally unique” as well.

"We have various departments at NTNU, which makes this school a competitive one,” Hsia said. “OUR will vow to make this school more competitive.”

Hsia took oath of his office and became the fourth director for OUR in early November. The new reform plan for OUR became his priority, as Hsia said that OUR should mean optimistic, unceasing and reliable.

"We have to make the change from inside out,” he said.

OUR was established in August of 2006, and it was the first public relation organization of its kind at all education-related universities. There are currently 16 staff members at OUR but Hsia said that he may hire more employees to join his team.
