Expanding into Thailand, Deepening Ties: Seven NTNU Students Join the 2026 AEL Summer Course

Amid deepening globalization, societies across East Asia face a range of shared challenges — cultural change, economic transformation, and social inequality — that are reshaping the development of their education systems. In response, the College of Education at National Taiwan Normal University has, since 2014, worked with the Graduate School of Education at Tohoku University in Japan, the College of Education at National Chengchi University, the Department of Education at Korea University, and the School of Education Science and School of Psychology at Nanjing Normal University — four countries or regions and five schools in all — to jointly offer the Asia Education Leader (AEL) Course. Starting in 2026, the partnership expanded further with the addition of the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. AEL is a flagship transnational program that the College has long prioritized, aiming to cultivate outstanding leaders who combine a global outlook with local awareness and can respond incisively to education issues across East Asia.

NTNU College of Science Welcomes 24 International Students for Summer Research Internships

National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) welcomed 24 international students this summer for research internships hosted by faculty members in the College of Science. Coming from universities across the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Iran, and other countries and regions, the students are spending two to four months gaining hands-on research experience while exploring Taiwan’s higher education and research environment.

NTNU Physics International Program Draws Strong Interest with Research-Based English-Medium Education

National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) continues to advance English-medium instruction and campus internationalization and has been designated by the Ministry of Education as a Benchmark University for bilingual education. NTNU currently offers six fully English-taught undergraduate degree programs. Beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Department of Physics transformed one of its two undergraduate classes into an International Program, admitting domestic high school graduates and providing fully English-taught courses and international research training to cultivate globally competitive talent in the fundamental sciences.

NTNU Leads Effort to Save Endangered Butterfly

NTNU partnered with University of Tokyo researchers, a Taiwanese pharmaceutical company, and Orchid Island's Indigenous Tao community to restore habitat for Taiwan's endangered Birdwing Butterfly, combining international science, corporate resources, and Indigenous knowledge in a model USR initiative.

A New Dawn for Talent Development: The Formation of the Regional University Alliance “UAiTED”

Following the intensive discussions at the consultation meetings earlier this year, the 16 leading research universities from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan have founded a strategic inter- and cross-university partnership, built on existing and potential academic collaborations. This has led to the formation of the University Alliance in Talent Education Development (UAiTED), which was launched on 16 December 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan. This alliance was initiated and supported by the Sayling Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation, with the leadership and coordinating efforts of the Chancellor of University System of Taiwan, Dr. Ovid Tzeng.
