Representatives of the Secretariat of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of Germany Visit NTNU to Share Experience with Mandarin Teaching

With rising interest in Mandarin learning around the world, Mandarin teaching has received great attention in recent years. On the afternoon of October 16th, representatives of the Secretariat of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of Germany visited National Taiwan Normal University, accompanied by members of the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education of the Ministry of Education. The German representatives shared experiences with Mandarin teaching. NTNU Vice President Chih-fu Cheng stated that NTNU offers first-rate Mandarin training and attracts exchange students from all over the world every year. Vice President Cheng offered a warm welcome to the representatives.

Akita International University Signs Agreement with NTNU to Stimulate Academic Exchange

Akita International University (AIU) is renowned for promoting its students foreign language capabilities and broadening their international perspectives. AIU President Norihiko Suzuki visited NTNU on October 7th. During the visit, President Suzuki and NTNU President Kuo-en Chang signed an agreement to promote academic exchange.

University of South Carolina and NTNU Sign Agreement for Dual Degree Programs

More than fifty thousand less students are expected to enroll in universities in Taiwan in 2016. In response, NTNU signed an agreement with the University of South Carolina on September 17th to establish joint masters programs in international business and restaurant and hotel management. The programs will recruit students from Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and Taiwan. Courses will be taught in English by professors from both universities. Courses and internships will be offered both in Taiwan and the USA. Students will be able to obtain a masters degree from a Taiwanese and American university.

NTNU Receives QS University Ranking of 411-420

QS University Rankings announce the 2014/2015 rankings on September 16th. Among the 40,000 universities worldwide, Nation Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) was ranked between 411 and 420, moving up seventy places compared to last year. With this year's overall improvements in performance, NTNU earned its highest ranking to date. NTNU is ranked second and fifth among universities in Taiwan for the indicators of internationalization and academic reputation, respectively. This shows that NTNU's efforts to enhance the quality of research and promote internationalization have received global recognition.

Research Center for Conservation of Cultural Relics Holds Exhibition of Mr. Chen Cheng-Po at the Tokyo University of Arts

From September 12 to October 2, 2014 the present university’s Research Center for Conservation of Cultural Relics (RCCCR) will hold an art conservation exhibition at the Tokyo University of the Arts’ (Ueno campus) Masaki Memorial Gallery. This exhibition will present the research and accomplishments of the conservation treatment of thirty-six works by the famous Taiwanese artist, Chen Cheng-Po, a collaborative effort between the RCCCR and the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate Department of Conservation, Conservation Course Oil Painting Laboratory.
