NTNU Amazes 2020 EdTech Taiwan

Higher education institutes around the world are affected by the epidemic this year and are forced to take on digital transformation. National Taiwan Normal University participated in the 2020 EdTech Taiwan, held from December 2nd to 6th to demonstrate our professional development and research results on the epidemic prevention on campus, Chinese language teaching, computing thinking, information science, science education, AI application literacy courses. We want to show the world our determination to evolve together with ever-changing trends.

Team of NTNU Received 17th National Innovation Award

National Innovation Awards are considered the most representative benchmark in gauging and evaluating research & development capacity as well as innovation capability of healthcare institutions and enterprises in the field of biotechnology in Taiwan. The awarding ceremony was held on December 1st. The AIoT team led by Prof. Chieh Jen Jie at the Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering has implemented the spectroscopy technology on quality inspection along with AloT. It only takes 3 seconds to detect whether orchids are infected with viruses, and spectroscopy can also be used to analyze the maturation of meat. In the future, it can be used to detect fruit quality, coffee bean flavor, etc. Therefore, their research result was given the 17th National Innovation Awards.

Impressed by Self-developed Day-pass System, Acer Visited NTNU

With the spreading of coronavirus, it is a global challenge to combat the virus. Director Cheng from our long-time partner, Acer AEB, visited Executive Vice President Greg Chung-Mou Lee in a group of five to discuss the Day-pass system, a project led by Vice President Lee. Since March 2020, NTNU has started using the system Day Pass for security concern. Visitors can scan the QR code at entrance for a one-day pass, when they get to their destination, they can check in at the unit visited as a record of campus footprint. The process is easy, quick, and paperless.

Online Forum of Asian Youth Education Development in 2020

The Division of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students organized the 2019 Asian Youth Education Development-Secondary School Principal Forum last year, inviting principals from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Myanmar to Taiwan to discuss the current situation of secondary education and topics on school management, which were highly praised by the attendants. Therefore, this year, the Division organized the "Asian Youth Education Development in 2020: Secondary School Progression Policy and Approach Forum-Internationalization Experience Dialogue". With the impact of the Covid-19, it is decided that the forum will take place online.

2020 Asia-Pacific Education Held Online

The goal of Asia-Pacific Association for Teacher Education, an association initiated by the College of Education of NTNU, is to develop teacher education and teacher training strategies in the Asia-Pacific area. This year, the forum, held on November 13, is moved online but the discussion remain heated. The Forum aims to provide a platform for participants from various countries in the Asia-Pacific region to share their educational experiences and inspire possible cross-border academic cooperation.
