Karate Athlete Wen Tzu Yun qualifies for Tokyo 2020

The first finalists of Tokyo Olympics 2020 of karate is announced on the website on World karate Federation on March 19th. Wen Tzu Yun, from the Department of Physical Education became the first Taiwanese karate athlete to be on the Olympics. Not only achieved her dream but also wrote history, Wen was truly happy that she did it.

Education of NTNU at 31st in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020

The latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 was announced by Quacquarelli Symonds on March 5th. Three subjects from NTNU are within top 100 of the world, they are Library and Information Management, ranked at 50th, Education ranked at 31st and linguistics, ranked at 51~100. This is an embodiment of NTNU’s work on Internationalization and cross disciplinary collaboration. Traditional subject is reinforced with latest technology, making NTNU full of academic energy.

Invasion of exotic plants driven by socioeconomic change elevates disease risks

Invasive plants can not only interfere with the recovery of native plants, but also become hotbeds of arthropod disease vectors. Increased number of chigger mites that can transmit deadly scrub typhus was observed under exotic plants with its invasion facilitated by industrialization, say disease ecologist Chi-Chien Kuo and colleagues from National Taiwan Normal University and Taiwan Centers for Disease Control in a new study published in PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases.

In Response to Wuhan Conoravirus, National Taiwan University System Reopens on March 2

In response to the severely contagious coronavirus outbreak and to follow the governmental infectious disease control policy, universities of National Taiwan University System (National Taiwan Normal University, National Taiwan University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology) agree to postpone the opening date to March 2 so that universities could implement containment measures. The regulations of courses in each university will be adjusted to protect students’ right to education.

Chair Professor C.-T. James Huang Granted Member of Academia Europaea

Well-known linguist C.-T. James Huang is an alumnus and chair professor at NTNU. He was granted as a member of Academia Europaea. This is a glorious moment for Prof. Huang for his contribution to modern languages and his great influence in the academic world.
