Department of Chinese as a Second Language and the Singapore Center for Chinese Language Sign Cooperation Agreement
National Taiwan Normal University is sparing no effort to promote Chinese language learning, teaching and teacher training. NTNU continues to make significant contributions in the area of Chinese language education. To train professional Chinese language teachers in Singapore and enhance the cooperation between Taiwan and Singapore, NTNU held the "2014 Short-term Study Tour for Chinese Language Teachers from Singapore" from June 8th to 11th. NTNU and Yonsei University Sign Dual Degree Program
In the beginning of April, President Kuo-en Chang and members of NTNU faculty visited Yonsei University in South Korea. On April 21, Yonsei University president Kap-young Jeong and the university’s faculty members visited NTNU. In this visit, the two schools signed an agreement on a dual degree program of Chinese language and literature for graduate students (both MA and PhD levels) to further extend corporation and exchange between them.2014.0328
University of Bonn Professor Dr. Matthias Herdegen Visits from Germany
University of Bonn professor Dr. Matthias Herdegen visited National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) on March 27th. He met with NTNU president Kuok-en Chang. President Chang invited Dr. Herdegen to teach at NTNU in hopes of opening up yet more opportunities for international exchange.2014.0328
Nobel Prize for Literature Committee Member Offers a Glimpse of the Subtle Beauty of the Chinese Language
Göran Malmqvist is the only commit member of the Nobel Prize for Literature who is fluent in Chinese. Last November, Malmqvist was invited by National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) to serve as a chair professor. On March 25th, NTNU's Center for General Education held a lecture by Malmqvist titled "A Brief Discussion of Important Phenomena in the History of the Chinese Language." Malmqvist's speech led the audience into the marvelous world of sinology.2014.0306
