NTNU Welcomes 500 New International Students with Orientation Events

NTNU welcomed nearly 500 international freshmen from around the globe this September, many of whom are in Taiwan for the first time. Bringing diverse cultural backgrounds, they are eager to begin their academic journey on NTNU’s vibrant, knowledge-rich campus.

Interdisciplinary NTNU Delegation Visits Chiba University, Japan, Initiating Dialogue on Bilateral Exchange

In 2013, the College of Education at our university signed an MOU with the Faculty of Education at Chiba University, aiming to promote bilateral academic research and interaction through cross-national collaborative research, shared academic achievements, and mutual visits by teachers and students. In accordance with this MOU, in June 2024, 15 students from Transdisciplinary Program in College of Education (referred to as the Program) accompanied by three teachers visited Chiba University to engage in a " Interdisciplinary X Transboundary " cultural exchange with students and faculty from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Faculty of Education.

NTNU International Students and Volunteers Celebrate in Cultural Exchange

On May 17, international youth volunteers from the NTNU Office of International Affairs gathered with students from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Germany, Brazil, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines to celebrate the end of the 2023-2024 academic year and the conclusion of the Chinese language tutoring program.

Learning Huayu in Taiwan — A Journey of Boundless Possibilities

Lukas Engström is a Swedish national based in Taiwan. Shortly after he started to learn Mandarin Chinese here, he visited a soft drinks bar to buy a cup of pearl milk tea. While in the queue, he kept repeating to himself the Chinese phrases he had to say to the staff. When at last he gave the order in impeccable Mandarin, he thought all was well, but he was completely nonplussed when the smiling staff shot out these questions in truncated Chinese: “How sweet would you like it? How much ice?”

Student Volunteers Support and Connect International Students

Established 15 years ago, the IY started as a volunteer group and has since played a crucial role in the journey of international students at NTNU. The team has been instrumental in helping students acclimate to university life in Taiwan.
