Mountains and Seas-A Chinese Rock Musical in NTNU

According to Prof. Gao, the script Mountains and Seas was derived from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, which he kept true to the original. The highlight of the play is that it re-organized the complex story and lots of characters and explicitly record how the ancestors describe the universe.

Prof. Gao Xingjian shares his creation path of Soul Mountain and Mountain and Sea

The first Gao Xingjian Art Festival was held in May in the name of the Nobel prize receiver. On May 20th, Prof. Gao visited NTNU and shared his experience of writing Soul Mountain and Mountain and Sea.

2017 Gao Xingjian Art Festival

This year marks that sixth year of Prof. Gao’s teaching at NTNU. From May 15th to June 15th, a series of Gao Xingjian Art Festival takes place in forms of special exhibition, sharing meetings and forum for creativity to celebrate our friendship with Nobel laureate Prof. Gao. The Musical of Soul Mountain and Mountains and Seas”-A Chinese Rock Musical will be on stage again. In return to this, Prof. Gao present a piece of Ink wash painting “The Thinker” to NTNU. President Chang receives that paining and the work will be placed at the new Art Museum of the Masters opened this May so that the spirit of creativity of Prof. Gao will be kept at NTNU.

Guitar Master Roger Eon Debut at NTNU

The pass away of the internationally known Guitar master Roland Dyens last October is one of the loss in the guitar world. Many memorial workshops and concerts are held around the world in tribute of this great musician. NTNU has invited Roger Eon, one of his classmates, to Taiwan and commemorate Dyens with his fans.

Shih-Yu Chorus Brings Gold from World Choir Games

Shih-Yu Chorus, made up with NTNU students and alumni, went to Sochi, Russia, from July 6 to join the Olympiad in Choir, the biennial World Choir Games. The team joined “open competition” and bagged two golds in the contemporary and folk music categories. The group came back to Taiwan on July 19th. Its conductor, Chen Sheng-chang, said that in total there are 283 teams from 76 countries. They joined the parade at Sochi before the game. Two years ago, Shih-Yu Chorus attended the World Choir Games at Busan, South Korea.
