Outstanding Alumna Nancy Rao Received Awards for her Publication

Outstanding Alumna of NTNU, Prof. Nancy Rao, Head of the Music Theory Department, was presented with 2018 Lowens Book Award, 2018 Music in American Culture Award and 2019 Book Award in Humanities and Cultural Studies for her book Chinatown Opera Theatre in North America: The transformation of Chinese Music into American Music in the Early Twentieth Century (University of Illinois Press, 2017).

President Wu and Team Visit Alumni Association at San Diego USA

President Wu Cheng Chih, Executive Vice President Sung Yao Ting, Executive Vice President Greg Chung Mou Lee, Executive Vice President Sung Yao Ting, Vice President of the Office of Research and Development Hsu Ying Shao and Liu Hsiang Lin and Dean of College of Arts Chao Huei Ling and Dean of College of Education Chen Hsueh Chih visited the NTNU Alumni Association at San Diego USA on March 3rd.

President Wu and Team Visited Vancouver, Welcomed by Alumni

In March, President Wu Cheng Chih, Executive Vice President Sung Yao Ting, Executive Vice President Chung-Mou Lee, Vice President of Office of Student Affairs Chang Shao Hsi and other administrators visited University of British Columbia. President Wu pointed out that we have 284 indigenous students in NTNU with a research center. Indigenous studies is also one of the key research topic of UBC. He is looking forward to future cooperation between UBC and NTNU in indigenous research.

Alumna Le Keng Tops at Two International Vocal Contests

Alumna, Soprano, Le Keng, graduated in 2008, received two first prizes at International Vocal Contests. The first one is the International Vocal Competition at Ningbo in October and now she gained the first prize, the best singer for Dvorak piece and the best Baroque music singer at the 53rd International Antonin Dvorak Singing Competition at Karlovy Vary. Le Keng's interpretation of Rusalka amazed the audience. When presenting the award, Dvorak's nephew praised that if there's Rusalka in the real world, it must be like this! She also got the chance to play the leading roles of Un ballo in maschera and Aida by Verdi. She said that she faces tremendous pressure when joining competitions when there's many outstanding vocalist out there, but all the hard work paid off when she was praised by the nephew of Dvorak. Le Keng says that it's defiantly hard for Taiwanese singers to find a career Europe. It's very competitive and challenging in singing a well as in language. For example, she was appointed to sing in Czech after she received the prize. She has to find a tutor to correct her pronunciation.

Alumna Chen You Ren Came Back After her Oversea Internship in Design

Chen You Ren, an alumna of the Department Of Design, class 2017, was granted a full scholarship from the MOE Scholarship Program for Oversea Study of Arts and Design and study at Parsons the New School of Design. In 2017, the MOE Scholarship Program for Oversea Study of Arts and Design sent 18 students to 9 countries, 16 institutes for further study and practicum.
