Research Find Possible Cure to Dialysis Patient
Taiwan is known as the "Kingdom of Dialysis for many years and the population of dialysis patient has surpassed 80,000 in 2015. The genetic disease Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease accounts for 5 to 10% among dialysis patients but there’s no cure for it. The project led by National Taiwan Normal University and National Applied Research Laboratories and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) might provide a critical first step to cures for polycystic kidney disease or similar conditions, researchers said.2016.1220
Taiwan Tops the 2016 International Junior Science Olympiad
The Taiwan team, trained by professors of NTNU, had a good showing at the 13th International Junior Science Olympiad. Six delegates from Taiwan won 5 gold and 1 silver medals and boosts the best performance of all countries. Lai Chun Mao from Tainan Jiansing Junior High School grabbed two individual prizes — best theoretician and best overall student — for his outstanding performance in the competition.2016.1219
Three NTNU Professors Received Art Education Contribution Award
On the 5th of December, the ceremony of the third Art Education Contribution Prize was held. Chair Prof. Liao Shiou Ping, the father of printmaking, and Prof. Ann CS Kuo, received the honorary award. Prof. Lin Shu-Cheng from the Graduate Institute of Performing Arts received the excellent teacher award.2016.1219
