Five Gold Medal Was Won by Taiwan International Physics Olympiad

The Taiwan team, trained by professors of NTNU, had a good showing at the 47th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2016 in Switzerland, where five local students won gold medals among 398 competitors coming from 84 countries, which ranked Taiwan the third place in this competition. Competitor LU Chia-Hsuan won the Best Experiment in the IPhO. Only three countries received 5 golds, they are China, Korea and Taiwan.

Result of 2016 International Top University Basketball Tournament

The 2016 International Top University Basketball Tournament started a fierce completion here at NTNU. In addition to the local team, elite players from Canada, South Korea, Japan and China all can’t wait to be in the game and the women’s team is added this year. While the players are making friends through games, it’s a good oppturrunity to sharpen their skills for the Summer Universidae in 2017.

Graduate School of Venture Business from Hoseo Uni Visited NTNU

The visiting group from Graduate School of Venture Business, Hoseo University came to NTNU on June 30th, led by Dr. In-Oh Jeon. They visited the Research Center for Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship and signed the MOU.

C. T. James Huang from English Dept. Becomes Academician

The 31st Academician of Academia Sinica was announced on July 7th. Professor C. T. James Huang, currently the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Linguistics at Harvard University as well as the alumni of the English Department of NTNU, is elected as one of the Academicians. Professor Huang is the tenth alumni from NTNU receiving this honor.

Chiu-yu Tseng from English Dept. Becomes Fellow of ISCA

Dr. Chiu-yu Tseng, currantly Chair of Institute of Linguistics in Academia Sinica, is elected Fellow of International Speech Communication Association (abbreviated. ISCA). With her contributions to prosody understanding through corpus-based analysis and modeling, Dr. Tseng is the first female scholar and the second Taiwanese receiving this distinguished fellowship. The new fellows are invited to the annual event in San Francisco from September 8th to 12th.
