Alumnus Tseng Miao Fen Leads Chinese Education in USA

In the March issue of Business Weekly, the alumnus of the English Department of NTNU, Tseng Miao fen, was introduced because of her outstanding career in Chinese teaching. Dr. Tseng is the first Chinese director and key trainer of the STARTALK Teacher Program at the University of Virginia. Her books are highly welcomed by Chinese teachers in the states and she is listed in the Who's Who in America Education.

Waseda Uni Comes to NTNU

On the 3rd of March, professors from the Chinese Distance learning Department of Waseda University, Koichi Murakami, Yumi Okazaki, Kawa Koji, Yang Da came to the Department of Chinese as a Second Language for a 17-day study with 32 students. The open ceremony was held on March 4th, teachers and students from both sides greeted each other and exchanged information.

CSIE Doctor Helps Google Beat Go Champ

Google defeat Go Champion with the help of a Taiwanese programmer. AlphaGO, a computer program developed by Google DeepMind in London, beat South Korean Go grandmaster Lee Se-dol on the 9th of March. The result was shocking to the world. And there was a Taiwanese born and educated doctor behind the super program AlphaGO.

NTNU sends PhD Students Abroad

The Department of Technology Application and Human Resource Development and the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language of NTNU was granted a program by the Ministry of Education to cooperation with Pennsylvania State University and Ohio State University to educate PhD students. The student will study in Taiwan with a scholarship for the first two years and the next two years, he or she will study abroad with a scholarship.

Taiwan Tug of War Women’s team Wins 4 gold 2 Silver

The Chinese Taipei Tug of War Women’s team grabs 4 gold and 2 silver at this year’s Tug of War International Federation’s World Indoor Championships in Volendam, Netherland. The women then teamed up with male athletes from Greater Taichung’s Chiao Tai High School and Asia University to compete in the 600kg mixed division, and confronted Basque Team and China, winning three matches in a row.
