German Professor Activates Robot in NTNU

At the Department of Electrical Engineering, you can easily spot a tall, foreign-looking man from other Asian faces. The German Professor Jack Baltes from the University of Manitoba in Canada came to NTNU this April is specialize in robot map building and positioning, intelligent control, computer vision, machine learning, etc. He got his PhD of computer science from the University of Calgary. Professor Baltes is a prolific writer and has won lots of international competition, for example, the 2016 RoboCup, the 2015 IEEE ICRA and the 2014 FIRA HuroCup WorldCup.

Foreign Students Go to Welcome Party by OIA

The room 210, located at general building, is filled with floating fruit balloons, making the place tropical fruit kingdom. The welcome party was held on September 22nd by OIA, who wanted to introduce the special watermelon festival to the new comers along with interesting performances prepared by students.

The Opening of the Office of Global Mandarin Education

The Office of Global Mandarin Education, founded in March this year, was opened September 20th .Director-General of the Department of International and. Cross-strait Education, Yang Ming Ling and the Principal Investigator, President Chang hosted the opening ceremony together. Many people from departments of Chinese Teaching, related fields and groups all attended the event. The first advisory committee was held right after the ceremony.

The Opening of the Head Office of NTU System

National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology started the NTU System, which was approved by the Minister of Education in March 2016. President Yang, Pan Chyr was the first president of NTU system and Vice President Chang Ching Ray will be the first CEO. On September 12th, the opening ceremony of the head office was held in NTU.

Chinese Taipei Wins 2016 World Outdoor Tug-of-War Championships by 6 Golds

The Chinese Taipei Tug-of-War Team Wins 6 Gold Medals, breaking its own record and taking back all gold medals in the women’s categories. The team is composed of the tug of war team of National Taiwan Normal University and students from Taipei Jingmei Girls Highs School. On September 12th, they grabbed the sixth gold at the ladies 540 kg championship. These young ladies spend lots of time practicing under the sun and finally achieved a fruitful outcome.
