Yonsei University Visited NTNU

On December 13th, Prof. Suh Hong Won, Mr. Jung, Dae Shik and Mr. Choi, Jun Woo from the International Campus Education Complex of Yonsei University came to NTNU. Yu Kuang Chao, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Prof. Chu Wo Hsin from the Department of Chinese as a Second language and senior administrator Wang Cha Yu received them and they have a delightful meeting.

Prayer Rooms in DPPOCS for Oversea Students

There are more than one thousand overseas Chinese students from more than 20 countries studying at The Division of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students. With a view to respect different religions, the prayer room for Buddhist, Taoist, Islamist, Catholists and Christians are set up. On the evening of December 22nd, president Chang, irector Wu Chung Hsin attended the open ceremony of this prayer room with faculties. This is one of the first prayer rooms set up in Universities in Taiwan.

Chair Prof. Ovid J.L. Tzeng Become Member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts

On December 7, 2016, Chair Professor Ovid J.L. Tzeng received a formal letter from Prof. Dr. H. C. Felix Unger, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, to inform him of his election as Member of this august body. President Unger also invited Board Member Tzeng to journey to Salzburg in March 2017 in order to receive a medal honoring this achievement, as well as devote future efforts to the causes of promoting the Academy’s new NEXT EUROPE project and the Alma Mater Europaea program dedicated to cultivating young talent. Prof. Tzeng has dedicated himself to the support of scholarship in the European Region. The Foundation is deeply proud of his outstanding achievements.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China Visited NTNU

Vice President of The University of Nottingham Ningbo China came visit NTNU on December 9th. President Chang, Director of OIA Yu Kuang Chao and Vice Director Huang received them in person, hoping to turn new page for the cooperation between two sides.

Research Find Possible Cure to Dialysis Patient

Taiwan is known as the "Kingdom of Dialysis for many years and the population of dialysis patient has surpassed 80,000 in 2015. The genetic disease Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease accounts for 5 to 10% among dialysis patients but there’s no cure for it. The project led by National Taiwan Normal University and National Applied Research Laboratories and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) might provide a critical first step to cures for polycystic kidney disease or similar conditions, researchers said.
