Nobel Judge Swedish Sinologist Göran Malmqvist Dies Aged 95

Internationally known Swedish Sinologist Göran Malmqvist, Chair Professor at the Department of Chinese, dies on October 17th, aged 95. His wife Chen Wen Feng said that Ma dies peacefully at home. He was not only elected to the Swedish Academy but also the only Sinologist among the Nobel Literature Prize judges. He had been dedicated to the study of Chinese literature and has translated over 50 classic Chinese literature including Journey to the West, Water Margin, Classic of Poetry.

The Fourth Taiwan Piano Festival to be Held in 2020

The fourth Taiwan Piano Festival will be held from February 4th to 18th in Taipei along with the first Competition of Taiwan Piano Festival. Associate Professor Yen Chun Chieh, the art director of the festival organized master class, master concert and piano competition with more than 20 Taiwan and international pianists. The registration is opened to all youth pianists until December 1st.

Taiwan-US Sports Science Forum held in NTNU

The Sports Academic Research Workshop and the Taiwan-US Sports Science Forum was held on October 19th. Professors and distinguished scholars from Taiwan and the United States gathered at the Gold Medal Lecture Hall to discuss sports. NTNU serves as the host, under the guidance of the Ministry of Science and Technology, invited five guests from National Academy of Kinesiology, including Chair Professor Hung Tsung Min from the Department of Physical Education.

Field Trip in Okinawa by NTNU and Meio University

On September 1st to 7th, the Graduate Institute of Sport, Leisure and Hospitality Management of NTNU and Meio University held an international field trip together. Associate Prof. Lin Po Hsiu led 21 students to Meio University in Okinawa and met 6 teachers and 17 students from the Department of Health Information Management. Chairman of FC Ryukyu also me the team from NTNU.

NTNU-UCLA Taiwan Studies Initiative Reception for Graduate Students

The NTNU-UCLA Taiwan Studies Initiative Reception was held in July at the Department of English by Dean Chern Chiou Lan, Director Nikky Lin, Prof. Shih Hsiao Feng and Prof. Chang Miao Hsia. They met with four students from UCLA and discussed about their plan in Taiwan.
